Recent History: Tython was a slave auction world for the Infinite Empire of the Rakata. After the fall of these aliens to an unknown plague the planet quickly became a place where only the strong would survive. Left over technologies scattered across the planet were fought over to the death. Many ex-slaves fled to the stars in their hopes to return home never to be seen again. Others, many others, would remain stranded on Tython and were forced to make a new living along side other unknown and bizarre species. Food was scarce and took time before farming could take hold. Also, gangs were formed to provide strength in numbers. The world had many wild and dangerous creatures roaming the countryside and many met horrible deaths if they got separated. Over the years the people of Tython have evolved into a weathered, tough, gangster/warlord, scavenger society. Battles between rival gangs and religious fanatics are commonplace. Bogan cults are everywhere and oftentimes children are stolen in the night for sacrifice to their dark lords. Technology remains commonplace but is often old and corroded, sometimes barely working. Blasters fail to work right when they need them to and speeders occasionally just wont start. This has forced many people to resort to older technologies to support and defend themselves such as simple weapons and animal mounts. Assassins, mercenaries, thieves, scavengers, pirates, spice dealers, and other scoundrels fill the towns and cities. The only law is "the blaster" and if it jams "the sword."

Tython and the Force: It is believed by many mystics that there is a mysterious Force in the planet that guides the destinies of all living things. Some living things can bend this Force to their will to accomplish amazing results that defy the odds and bend logic. Some believe that it is the will of the Force not of the individual that decides these unlikely outcomes. There are apparently a chosen few living beings that can easily actualize this Force in their lives on purpose. A few use it for selfless purposes "the Ashla side," but most use it for selfish gain "the Bogan side."

Bogan users on Tython are considered mysterious and frightening by most people. They often times have a large cult following who serve them as Bogan Lords. Bogan cultists are seldom trifled with except by the most powerful of gangs. Conflicts like this usually end with lots of bloodshed on both sides but with the Bogan eventually the victor.

Ashla users are rumored to exist but are not organized in any way. And if they did exist, what for? How would they survive if they didn’t use the Force for themselves instead of others? It is rumored that Ashla users must be unconsciously using it to tend crops or raise younglings, nothing more.
